Mulatu Astatke Hand Towel
Mulatu Astatke Hand Towel
The design incorporates motifs of the instruments he uses, a keyboard and mallets, inside cells to express his music, which seems to make the cells in the body dance.
The summery colours, reminiscent of fireworks exploding in the night sky, matched perfectly with the dyed fabric.
These tenugui towels are dyed by hand by artisans in Kashiwara, Osaka using a technique called chusen dyeing.
This design was made by dyeing navy blue fabric.
